I hope everyone is having a fun and wothwhile hunting season so far. As this week draws to a close many of us will be using vacation days from work and spending a good amount of time in the timber. I myself will spending a mixture of time filming and hunting over the next two weeks. With that said, I just wanted to throw out a couple of friendly reminders to make sure you have a fun, safe, and effective hunt.

1.)  Safety First – Make sure you have and use your safety harness at all times. Don’t be stupid.

2.)  Mind The Wind – Make sure that you know what the wind is going to do the entire time you are in the stand. If it changes… you may need to leave the area or change stand locations.

3.) Access – Take a second look at the entry and exit routs to your stand location. Will the deer cross you path and ruin your hunt? What are the chances you will bump the deer you are hunting?

4.) Scent Free – If you are hunting for several days in a row make sure you clean your clothing at least once every other day. There are some scent elemination products that work, but nothing is 100%. Refer to rule #2.

5.)  Slow Down – Don’t make rash decisions. Approach every hunt with a well thought out plan and while in walking to, sitting in, and walking out from your stand, be as observent as possible.

6.) Have Fun – Remember what you are doing this for… don’t let others, the “industry”, or false expectations make you kill something you don’t want to or worse yet pass something you want to kill. It’s your season, make the best of it. And when you kill that deer you have been chasing make sure you let me know and I will post the pictures!

Hunt hard and hunt safe!
